SOOOO... we're excited to announce that there's is a bun in my oven! It’s just over 18 weeks old and (according to the Babycentre App Tracker) it’s about as big as a capsicum.
Almost 3 years into marriage, “particular family members” were hinting for us to add another grandchild, niece/nephew, cousin to the clan. 2 pregnancy tests later, low and behold, on December 23 2016 it was confirmed. As I stared in disbelief at the "Yes +" on the digital pregnancy test, a mixture of emotions and thoughts began to unfold. Since having been diagnosed with PCOS several years ago, we had been praying that we wouldn’t have the difficulties in conceiving which apparently accompany this ‘syndrome’. Praise God - we fell pregnant straight away! It was a somewhat unexpected, however welcomed surprise!
The fun part was next – sharing the news to Hubs, who had been so excited to start a family. More excited and ready than I ever was. With the timing coinciding with Christmas, I thought it would be fun for him to open an early ‘present’. I shall say no more, but let the video below unveil this wonderful moment!
I want to document this unique journey and share the things I’ve learnt along the way. One thing I have realised is, no matter how many people I talked to, number of books and articles I read, number of blogs I followed, nothing could’ve prepared me for what happened over the past 18 weeks. Every woman goes through this different and yes, it’s only the start, but what I have already found is how humbling this experience is. The changes your body goes through to prepare for a 9 month temporary home is extraordinary. It forces you to adapt to those changes, sometimes in ways which you don’t like. For a while you’ll try to fight against it, well at least I tried to, but eventually I succumbed to the fact of prioritizing what’s REALLY important.
